Pros:
Easy To Setup, Easy to use, Fast, High Capacity, Portable, Reliable
Best Uses:
Additional Storage, Backup, File Transfer, Music, Video
Describe Yourself:
Casual user
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Lacie 250 GB looks and works great. I had a cheaper brand with only a USB that died after a year with all of my stuff on it and distorted data if it was accidentally unplugged. The Lacie, through the firewire cable, keeps all the data intact no matter the accidental mishaps (excluding spilled liquids). Also It very easy to use (just connect it) and quite small and portable. As a plus the colors look cool.

Service & Delivery comments:

The delivery was prompt and the product arrived in good condition. No problems there. Also, the price was the cheapest I found on many websites.

Best Uses:
Bootable SuperDuper backu

I had great performance from the 120GB smaller version of this drive. When I replaced by MacBookPro with one which had a 250GB internal drive I knew I wanted a 250GB external LaCie rugged drive. The day after I got the 250GB drive my logic board failed but I had a full bootable superduper backup and could working with a borrowed Mac. If you are a Mac owner you can't beat one of these drives. I have never used the USB port (why?) but I have used the FW400 and FW800 and found the bus power enough to operate the LaCie, even when operating on battery power. The LaCie comes with a USB power cord so if the FW or USB bus isn't enough for the drive you can plug the USB power cord into an open USB port and run the drive. I took my 120GB drive on several international trips, throwing it in a backpack and never had any problem after about 2 years of daily use. I had no hesitation getting the 250GB LaCie; the warranty is the best.
