No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I use this optical mouse on a daily basis with my laptop. Both laptop and mouse are only 2 months old. LOVE the laptop, HATE the mouse! Sure, the color's cool, and the plug & play feature can't be beat but you have to really press on the whole mouse to get the darn cursor to stop travelling! It has a mind of it's own, and that is NOT a good thing when you have to try and aim it and it's wiggling/jiggling all over the screen. I'm throwing mine away tonight.
