No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I purchased this in order to convert a samsung solid state disk to an IDE interface. Unfortunately being a wafer-board this is of course not the sort of material that you would use to put into any sort of laptop (which is good because I wasn't doing that). The other drawback is that it sticks out towards the side. It would have been much better to make it longer to keep with the profile width of the IDE cable.
Aside from that it does what you would expect, so in that regard; it's a good product.
