Sony STR-DH510 Review

Review: I use this for a home theater A/V Receiver. I chose this unit because the cabinet it needs to fit in is quite shallow so I was looking more for something that would fit than I was for a Name or a Sound Quality, although Sony is a good name and the sound quality is very good with this unit. The Sony fit in quite nicely once I purchased some 90 degree HDMI adapters. I have this coupled with an Insignia TV and an Insignia 5.1 speaker system. As I and my SO are in our 60's, our hearing isn't as discerning as younger ears, but we can definitely tell a sound difference for the good over what we were listening to before, which was the speakers in the TV.

Pros: Cost, Size, Sound

Nice receiver

Review: I used this to hook up only two speakers, so I cannot comment on how it works with surround sound, but it works as advertised for my use. I did have an issue with the audio being delayed when pumping HDMI through the receiver and the to the tv, but this is not the receivers fault. It is a known issue with all receivers. This receiver does have a delay of 60ms you can introduce to counteract this, but I found it was still off by a small amount. Hooking the HDMI cable into the tv and outputting sound from the tv to the receiver using an optical cable took care of any sounds delay. Works great!

Pros: Inexpensive, Name brand, value
