The Black Box High-Density Media Converter System II Chassis is a robust 3U rackmount platform designed to centralize and simplify your network's media conversion. It accommodates up to 20 hot-swappable media converter modules plus an optional SNMP management module. Reliability and Modularity The chassis guarantees continuous uptime with dual AC power supplies for redundancy. If one supply fails, the other immediately takes over. These supplies are hot-swappable and user-replaceable. A crucial "Last gasp" feature sends an alert if a power supply issue occurs. The chassis also features dual, easily field-replaceable cooling fans. The system supports a wide array of modules, offering seamless conversion for copper-to-fiber, fiber-to-fiber, single-strand, VDSL, and more. Installation is tool-free - simply slide the module into the backplane. Comprehensive Management For full control, the managed chassis requires the optional SNMP Management Module (LMC5200A). This module connects to your LAN and allows the chassis to be assigned an IP address. Using the included IView software and its user-friendly GUI, you can manage modules, get detailed port statistics, and chart information. The module includes SNMP MIBs to monitor internal temperature and voltage and set SNMP traps to alert you to potential failures, minimizing downtime. An SNMP write-lock switch protects your configurations from accidental changes. For out-of-band management, you can connect a console to the RS-232 port. The managed system also supports DHCP, TFTP, and Telnet. Remote and Desktop Options For remote locations, unmanaged 1- or 2-slot desktop chassis models are available to communicate with the central unit. These compact units can be ordered with various power supplies, including one model that supports extreme temperatures and features a DIN rail clip. Optional brackets are available for rack or wall mounting. | |
